On the edge of a small village on a hill stood an old tower with a ringing bell. They rarely called him, but they were always on business: either people needed to get together to make a collective decision for everyone, or to tell about important events, or to let the neighborhood know that a fire or other disaster had occurred somewhere. Therefore, when they heard the bell, the people stopped all their daily activities and immediately gathered at the agreed place.

And then one hot summer day in this village there was a fire in one of the houses. It was work time, and all the adults were in the field. There were only the elderly, the infirm, and the small children left in the village. The wind was quite strong, towards the street. The house caught fire last. The fire could spread to neighboring houses and destroy the entire village. It was necessary to notify the villagers of the disaster as soon as possible. A grandfather and his six-year-old granddaughter stayed in one of the houses that stood closest to the tower. The old man could not reach the tower. The girl rushed. But the trouble was, it was impossible to reach the rope hanging from the bell's tongue. No matter how hard she tried, it was all in vain. Then the child knelt down in helplessness and wept bitterly. And then someone's warm hands picked up the baby, lifted her off the ground, and she grabbed the rope tightly. And the hands began to rock the child from side to side... And the bell rang loudly and long. The alarm bell was heard by people and they immediately came running. When it was over, the villagers found out who they owed their salvation to. And the girl told them in response that if it hadn't been for a woman in beautiful white dresses, with warm hands and a kind smile, nothing would have happened. No one had seen this stranger, no matter who was asked. The girl said that she looked like the Madonna and Child depicted on the icon hanging in her grandfather's house. In memory of the miracle, the people of the whole village decided to put a wooden chapel in place of the bell tower. And the girl's father planted a larch sapling behind her. The beauty can still be seen today. The bell from the tower was moved to the bell tower of the chapel so that it would summon people to prayer...
