In this village, a cow that gives a lot of milk, but at the same time beats with its feet and tail, not allowing itself to be milked, is called a "witch." And they recall a very old legend. Her events took place precisely in the local neighborhood.

One day, a local young shepherd, returning home in the evening, told his old mother that he had seen a small herd of black cows with white spots in the middle of their foreheads on the other side of the lake. Well–fed cows - you can get a bucket of milk from each one.

– Yes, – the shepherd's mother confirmed, – it was you who happened to see the witch's flock. The evil spirits feed the stolen cows with dew collected at night on Ivan Kupala, and that's why they look so good and give countless amounts of milk.

- Is it possible to steal such a cow? The shepherd asked.

- You can steal, but the witch will definitely catch up with the thief and get her own back.

"Is there no way to trick her?" The young man persisted.

And she told the mother to her son, not suspecting what he was up to, about the only way to steal the witch's cow with impunity.

...It is necessary to pick stinging nettles. You need to scatter it along the road behind you when you take a roguelike animal out of the herd. The witch will stop chasing the thief, as long as she doesn't step on the grass.

A couple of days later, a happy shepherd brought a black cow with a white spot between its horns into the yard to meet the mother, who had run out of the house. The old woman, however, saw the huge udder and calmed down: with such a cow, they would literally become rich by autumn. Milk, of course, appeared on this farm, but both the shepherd and his mother began to walk all in scratches and bruises.

And when the cow broke her mother's arm and almost knocked out her eye with her tail, they decided to get rid of such "happiness". Moreover, the villagers began to complain: the black roguelike literally spoiled the entire herd – injured the cows.

The villagers persuaded the shepherd to take the witch's cow back to the other side of the lake. But still, as the legend says, human greed won here too.

The shepherd, of course, said he would get a cow, but he sold it. Whoever wanted to buy this cow coveted the light and plentiful milk. From that ragoul, the bulls then went, and from them more. And they were the same in character–they were all like a witch's cow. Since then, it has become customary that if a cow receives buckets of milk from a cow, then she gives it through the suffering of her owners, and this cow is a descendant of that very Witch cow.

And the lake, from the shore of which the black roguelike was stolen, was destroyed by evil spirits, turning it into an impassable quagmire.
