In 1424, a wooden Catholic church was built on the site of what used to be a pagan temple, on the initiative of Grand Duke Vytautas. In 1637, a new stone church was built at the expense of the owners of Vishnevo, the Khreptovich family. In 1771, it was restored after a fire and was being completed. The church operated under Soviet rule. The temple has preserved the paintings of the pylons and arches, made by the famous artist Ferdinand Ruschitz.
