Zaslavl

It was on this site in 985 that the city of Izyaslavl, known today as Zaslavl, was founded. Rogneda, one of the wives of Novgorod Prince Vladimir, was exiled here with her eldest son Izyaslav. The fortress "Zamechek" was built, which by the end of the 11th century had lost its main function. Zaslavl Castle was built at the end of the 16th century on the site of a city detsints. Destroyed during the war with Muscovy in 1654-1667. The ruins of the entrance gate have been preserved.
