The Palace and Park ensemble: the Volovich Palace (1779)

It has been mentioned in the VKL as the Radziwills' property since the beginning of the 16th century. Since the middle of the XVIII century. the property of the noble family of Volovich. According to the project of architect D. Sack, the construction of a grandiose palace began in 1779. Outbuildings, a huge landscape park with ponds, a family chapel (1889) in the Neo-Gothic style and the Volovich Palace in the classical style with Baroque elements have been preserved from the former estate. Restoration work is underway here today.

The Palace complex of George Konisky (1762-85

The palace complex includes an entrance gate, two stone wings and the palace building itself. The Baroque brick complex was built for about twenty years, from 1762 to 1785. According to the researchers, the palace was built according to the project of the talented Vilna architect Ona Glybitsa. At one time, it was part of the ensemble of the Spassky Monastery and was built by order of Archbishop G. Konisky.

I. Paskevich Park (1839

This unique landscape park stretches along the shore of the river G183 for a kilometer. It was founded in 1839 under Count I. Paskevich. The park was designed by Polish architect A. Idzkowski. There is a swan pond in its central part. Many sculptures, bridges, gazebos decorate the park in all its corners. Trees and shrubs for the park were imported from Warsaw and Paris. The park covers an area of 25 hectares and is one of the most beautiful landscape parks in Belarus.

In 1843, a post office was built of brick according to an exemplary standard design. It stands on the M8 road from Orsha to G G90.. Previously, there was a station house, a service wing, a carriage house, and a stable. Today there are enough buildings left to look here and see what the taverns of the mid-19th century looked like.

The solid post office building was built of brick in a classical style with Gothic elements in 1844 according to one of the typical projects of that time. A part of the brick fence on both sides of the station has been preserved in good condition. There is a small building left in the courtyard, which may have once served as housing for postmen, cabmen and just passing travelers.

Approximately in the center of the village, the post station, built of brick in 1848, has been preserved in very good condition. The station was built according to one of the standard designs of station houses, approved in 1846. In addition to the station building itself, you can also see the station wing for Coachmen, an outbuilding and a carriage house. A well has been preserved in the middle of the courtyard since then until today.

It has been known as a city since the beginning of the 16th century. The Orthodox Church in honor of St. The Trinity appeared at the very end of the twentieth century. The main building of the church is the building of the former parish church, erected in the city in 1903. There are many tombstones of a huge Jewish cemetery, a three-story watermill building (1886), a family building (XIX century) and a postal station (1854), which today is adapted for an Orthodox church.

The post office was built according to a standard brick design in the classical style around the end of the 40s of the XIX century. Today, the building is being restored: the roof is covered, the walls are plastered, and a fence is being erected. Next up are outbuildings and landscaping.

Peter and Paul Orthodox Church (1801

Today, this shrine is known as the Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, built of brick and fieldstone in the style of late classicism in 1801. However, it was most likely built as a Catholic or Uniate church and was rebuilt after the uprising of 1863-1864. In 1962, the Soviet authorities adapted the church into a warehouse. In 1992, it was returned to believers.

From the ancient Drisvyat castle of the XVI century. earthen fortifications have survived to this day. Fortunately, the Peter and Paul Church, built of brick in the neo-Russian style in 1908, has been preserved. Closer to Lake Drisvyaty, you can see a majestic temple built in the lines of folk architecture combined with the Art Nouveau style. It was built in 1929. In 1964, the church was closed and only returned by verdict in the early 1990s.

The classical-style temple with pseudo-Gothic elements was built of brick in the middle of the 19th century. It was built on the foundation of an older building. With the advent of Soviet power, the shrine was set aside for a cinema, and later for a warehouse of industrial goods. Around this time, the organ disappeared from the church without a trace. The church was restored and opened to the faithful in 1999.

You should definitely see this wonderful monument to the founders of the settlement, Princess Rogneda and her eldest son Izyaslav. The monument reflects the very moment when Izyaslav, despite his young age, stood up for his mother against the despotic Novgorod Prince Vladimir.

In the picturesque Prinemansky tract "Oaks" in 1906, there was an illegal teachers' trip. On the same day, the expedition members in Mykolaiv region were arrested by the tsarist authorities. The investigation was conducted until 1908. J. Kolas was sentenced to three years in prison. Mykolaiv region is the birthplace of the poet's parents. The huge secondary school building in the village was built with funds allocated by the national poet. Today, the school bears his name. There is a bust of J. Kolas in the courtyard, and the school has a museum of local lore.

The brick Orthodox Church was built here immediately after the events of the 1863-1864 uprising. The church is made in a retrospective Russian style and consecrated in honor of the Holy Trinity. According to local residents, it stands on the site of an older wooden church, which was built before the 1960s. it's already outdated. It is not known which denomination he belonged to.

Only fragments of the ancient landscape park have been preserved from the once rich estate "old Kuplin". On the edge of the village, in a dense thicket, in 1834, a Catholic or Uniate shrine in the Empire style was built of brick. Its main facade was decorated with a raised pediment on four huge columns. Next to the temple, also in ruins, there is a bell-tower gate. The buildings require urgent conservation.

Mayants Apartment Building (Sovetskaya, 8

This house is located on the street. Sovetskaya St., 8. It was built in the Art Nouveau brick style in 1894. It originally belonged to one of the richest merchants in Gomel, Leib Mayants. The first floor of the house was used for various shops and a pharmacy. The second one was reserved for an educational institution. The residential apartments, which seemed to be rented, were located on the third floor.

The Roadside Chapel (1825

Inconspicuous at first glance, the building preserves the memory of a landmark religious event. The chapel was built in 1825 in the style of folk architecture with elements of classicism made of brick in honor of the Nicaea Cathedral, which was convened by Emperor Constantine in 325 and at which the final separation of Christianity from Judaism took place, and the feast day – Sunday – and the time of Easter celebration were determined.

If you drive from the castle along Zamkova Street, at a T-shaped intersection on a possibly artificially created hill on a pedestal of two tiers made of rubble stone, a three-tiered chapel in the neoclassical style stands. It was built of brick in 1897. A wooden sculpture rests on the second tier, which is pierced by four through-arch openings. It may have been preserved from an older chapel that stood on this site since the middle of the 18th century.

This roadside chapel, according to the old-timers, once stood on the side of a country road or even at an intersection, one of the roads of which led to the local small gentry estate. Today, she stands outside the village on the edge of the collective farm yard, desolate and alone. Probably at the end of the 19th century. it was built of brick in the classical style by the owners of this estate on the border of their possessions. The chapel is currently being restored.
