Brest Fortress

After the liberation uprising of 1830-31, the tsarist authorities approved a project to build a fortress, which almost completely destroyed the ancient buildings on this site. In 1836, the first stone of the future fortress was laid with a length of 6.5 km defensive walls. The buildings of the churches and monasteries located on this territory were partially adapted to the needs of the fortress. The work continued until the very beginning of the Second World War, on September 1, 1939.

Approximately in the center of this village you can see the building of the former poorhouse, which has been perfectly preserved. It was built of brick in the classical style with Baroque elements in 1905. Today, the building has been restored and is used by various institutions. The buildings of the mechanical factory, built around the end of the 19th century, have been partially preserved.

The building of the former Polish Classical school, built of red brick in 1905, is perfectly preserved here. Information about such architectural monuments should be disseminated so that they find new owners.

The building of the former power plant

Some researchers believe that this is a former power plant building. It was built around the middle of the 19th century. But there is an opinion that the foundations or even the walls of a watermill were used during the construction of this building. Today there is a small roadside cafe here.

Very close to Krivichi, on the picturesque bank of the Servech River, the watermill building has been preserved to this day. It was built of hewn timber in 1921. Today the mill is abandoned.

Gymnasium building

In 1908, a huge T-shaped building of the men's gymnasium was built in exquisite eclectic style. It is located on Pervomaiskaya St., in the direction of the former Jesuit monastery and the Church of St. M. Archangel. The main building of the gymnasium is joined by classrooms with one-sided placement of classrooms. The gymnasium building requires urgent restoration.

The construction of the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary made of brick in the eclectic and Art Nouveau style began in 1935. For some time the church stood under a thatched roof. The construction of the shrine was completed only in 1994. Local residents claim that they asked Mikhail Gorbachev for assistance in completing the construction. The Zemstvo Council was built in 1886. This brick building is designed in an eclectic style with neoclassical features. The basement basement and balconies on the second floor set the house apart from the less interesting buildings of the ordinary buildings of Mstislavl. Refrigerator Building

Only the kitchen building and the refrigerator building, unique in beauty and rare in purpose, have been preserved from the Chechotov estate of Zadvey (XVIII century). This exquisite monument of our national heritage requires urgent conservation. Until recently, the roof of the refrigerator was in a tolerable condition, but now it is damaged, and the upper part of the building is collapsing much faster.

Forestry building

This building was built at the very end of the 1930s. This forestry building is made of high-quality hewn pine timber. There is also an opinion that this is a Polish school building with the headmaster's rooms on the second floor, built in 1927.

In 1883, a brick building of the national school was erected. A huge five-storey red brick steam mill, built in 1900 on the outskirts of a marshy meadow, has been preserved from the once rich estate. In the village itself, a distillery has been preserved in excellent condition, which was built of brick in 1901 and was still operating recently.

On the old highway P87, connecting G G89 Praz with Mogilev through Orsha, the postal station building, built according to a standard design in 1832, has been preserved in excellent condition. Fragments of the station fence, an outbuilding, and a barn can be seen. This picturesque place is perfect for opening a roadside cafe here.

The postal station building is in good condition. Until recently, the building was used as housing, then as a storage room. The station was built of brick in 1851. Most likely, it represents one of the typical projects for buildings of a similar purpose. Today, postal stations in our country are already becoming rare.

The structure of the distillery

These are the lands of the former Stravinsky gentry estate. In 1908, a huge distillery building was built on the banks of the Vyazovka River. The building was damaged during the Second World War, but it was restored in the post-war years. Ruins of a field stone dam, fragments of an old park and a pond have been preserved from the folvarka.

This estate also belonged to the noble family of Yelensky. The manor house has not been preserved, but its huge vaults are still used by local residents for household needs. The building of the distillery, the alcohol storage, the forge and the Tavern, where people still live today, are in a tolerable condition.

Since the middle of the XVIII century. this estate was owned by the Shvykovskys, Korenevskys, and Chernetskys. The unique cheese factory building made of brick and fieldstone has been preserved. People still live in it today. A very well-preserved brick barn with vaulted basements. The cellars can be used as a wine cellar.
