The Franciscan Monastery
Back in 1396, a monastery of this order was founded in the city with a wooden church attached to it. In 1712, a new stone church was erected in honor of the Virgin Mary, as well as the Baroque monastery buildings. In 1863, the monastery was closed, and the church received parish status. In 1925, the church became a cathedral. In 1981, restoration was carried out, and in 2001, a higher theological seminary was opened in the monastery buildings.
