Monuments of the city

In Polotsk, you can see many monuments to historical figures of the Belarusian land, who glorified our country far beyond its borders. These are monuments to the founders of the city, the poet, playwright and teacher Simeon Polotsky, a native of Polotsk, the famous book printer Francis Skarina, a merchant of all time, Prince Vseslav Bryachislavovich of Polotsk, monuments at the Children's Museum, on the site of the old settlement and others.

Initially, this iconic classical-style building was built as a cubic building with a four-pitched roof. The walls were built of fieldstone in 1838. It is still unknown to which denomination the chapel originally belonged. In the 2010s, the chapel began to be rebuilt, perhaps at the same time the pentagonal apse was completed and the walls were plastered. Today it is an Orthodox chapel.

The gentle banks of the Dnieper River offer magnificent views of the surrounding area. And nearby, in the ancient cemetery, you can see the slender construction of a wooden Orthodox chapel in the style of folk architecture, built here in 1852. Due to its color, the chapel successfully fits into the surrounding landscape.

In the ancient, today half-abandoned cemetery stands an Orthodox chapel in the style of folk architecture, built of hewn timber in 1938. Its name is unknown. Judging by the cemetery fence, a much larger ancient temple could have stood on the site of the chapel. An interesting stone tombstone can be found near the shrine.

This church is no longer on the list of Orthodox churches in Belarus, and judging by its abandoned condition, the locals have also forgotten about it. But the temple is still standing. It had a club in the 1930s. During the Second World War and until 1957, the church operated, then it was converted into a warehouse.

The pond

On the left bank of the G183 river, near Lake Chernoe, between the villages of Mikheevichi and Prudok, on the outskirts of a dense pine forest, we have a great opportunity to taste the water from the spring, which has long been called the Holy Well. It is known that this natural treasure has existed here since ancient times, but it has been mentioned in written sources only since the middle of the 19th century. The main thing is that the spring still exists today, and its healing water, as many people claim, attracts visitors almost all year round.

In 1811, an unusual classical-style roadside chapel was built in the center of the village. The wooden sculpture of the crucifixion has been preserved in the chapel. Several stone steps lead up to the chapel, which is supposedly being buried and protected by century-old trees. Above the stone domes stands another dome of branches and leaves.

Three outbuildings have been preserved from the Rdutlovsky estate (XVIII century to the present day. The roadside chapel stands at the entrance to the estate, on the side of the P2 road. The chapel was built of brick in 1782. On the edge of the manor park, a brick windmill has been preserved in good condition. Another chapel of rare construction was built in the Empire style in 1721.

This Catholic chapel was built in the classical brick style in 1916. She's standing in the woods by the road. A very beautiful legend is connected with this roadside chapel about the ghost of the deceased young wife of a local nobleman. The war of 1812 prevented the completion of the construction, and the chapel was left without a cross and without a sculpture of the Holy Mother of God.

The work was carried out over 40 years on the territory of 10 European countries, including Belarus, where more than 30 points of the arc are registered today.
