St. Sophia Cathedral

According to written sources, this temple was built in 1066. The first time the shrine was damaged by fire was in 1607. In 1710, during the Northern War, the temple was destroyed by Russian troops under the command of Peter I. The cathedral housed a rich and unique library. In 1738, the church was restored in the Vilna Baroque style. Renovation work continued in 1913. After the Second World War, the church housed an archive. In 1985, the temple was renovated and adapted as a concert hall.

Svir

The settlement was founded in the 13th century by Prince Dovmont. Since 1527, it has been owned by the Svirskys and Radziwills. The Old Believers' Assumption Church (19th century) has been preserved. Various ancestral buildings (18th century). In 1903, the brick church of St. Nicholas was erected. St. Nicholas in the Baroque style. About in the middle of the village there is a hill with such a beautiful view of the surroundings and Lake Svir that it takes your breath away.

In 1508, the estate belonged to the Kollontai, later to the Tuminsky, Radziwills, Chechots, and Tukals. The lands of the estate are located in a picturesque area, decorated with small ponds, fed by many springs. The two-storey brick barn impresses with the quality of its construction. He could have served people for a long time. Among the ponds, you can see the ruins of a brick outhouse.

The Bykhovtsev estate, which flourished here since the 18th century, has preserved solid brick outbuildings: a barn with a terrace on huge stone columns, a brick stable, which today serves as a warehouse for the collective farm, and an outbuilding with a spacious attic. The ancient manor park has been partially preserved around it.

By the beginning of the 19th century, a small farm belonged to the wealthy Oginsky family. Later, the Lyakhnitsky family settled here. Several small original barns built of fieldstone and brick have been preserved from the folwark. Another old stone building is still used for housing today. The barns of the former farmstead are well preserved and could still be used today as housing or for household purposes.

The famous estate belonged to the Grabovskys, Radziwills, and Bokhwits since 1580. The barn, built of bricks and large boulders in 1783, has been preserved in excellent condition. The building was restored in 1913 and today it is one of the most striking examples of economic architecture. The valuable seed fund of the estate was stored on three floors of the barn. The park and ponds are in tolerable condition. Unfortunately, the spring near the barn was destroyed.

Holy Transfiguration Church

The Holy Transfiguration Church in the style of folk architecture with Baroque features was originally a Uniate church. It was built of wood in 1668. There is information that it was rebuilt in 1783. The temple was rebuilt for the second time in the second half of the 19th century. Then a two-tiered wooden bell tower was completed to the main temple. There may have been icons preserved in the temple as early as the 17th century. The iconostasis was erected in 1830.

The Holy Transfiguration Church in the neo-Russian style was built of wood in 1910. The church houses a unique altar cross with enamels from the beginning of the 19th century and icons created in the middle and end of the 18th century. The area around the shrine is landscaped.

The church was built of wood in the classical style with Baroque elements and was originally most likely Uniate. Next to the church there are several very old stone crosses, probably installed before the construction of the temple itself.

One of the most famous monuments of our national heritage, the Holy Dormition Monastery, has been preserved on the very border with Russia. It was founded in the early 14th century. In the 19th century. rebuilt. On the territory of the monastery you can see the Holy Dormition Cathedral (1801), the Holy Mother of God Church (1864), the cell building, the Holy Intercession Church, the bell tower, residential buildings and outbuildings. The monastery buildings are being restored.

Holy Lake

It is worth taking at least some time to visit the Holy Lake. From the M8 road, turn towards the village of Evdokimovichi and reach the village of Dubrovka-2. The lake lies downstream of the Artis River, which flows into the Dnieper. If you're lucky, the locals will tell you a legend about this natural treasure.

The territory of the spring is beautifully equipped: various gazebos, open galleries and terraces, stairs. The abundance of springs in these places forms nimble rivulets. The terrain here is hilly, well-tended forest with tall pines. Perhaps the authorities and residents of the surrounding villages are watching these magnificent places. A real expanse for artists and photographers.

Agricultural Academy of Belarus

Here it is worth paying attention to the buildings of the current Agricultural Academy of Belarus, which were erected in 1837. in the city you can see several administrative buildings of the late 19th century. and the Ascension Church, built in 1868. the grave of a participant in the uprising of 1863-1864 is located on the territory of the arboretum of the Academy.
